Ropeworks Residential

This unusual site was originally a ropemakers workshop and yard, dating from the early 19th Century. The site is some 170m long and between 7m and 12m wide, set within the West End Lanes Conservation Area.

The original buildings were largely ruined through fire. Aim's concept introduces a string of residential accommodation linked via a series of public spaces and a new semi-private lane. The proposal looks to retain the remaining redbrick arched walls in homage and reference to the site’s original use and character.

monifieth community centre

Aim are currently working with the Monifieth local community to develop the proposal for a multi-purpose centre which will provide desperately needed social and leisure facilities for the town and surrounding area.

Outlined within the design brief is the requirement for an auditorium, exhibition space for temporary/travelling exhibitions, café facilities, multi-purpose space for classes/meetings, recording studios and staff facilities.

young residence

Located to the south of Dundee on the Fife periphery, the plot for the Young Residence offers captivating views across the River Tay.

PV Flexible Unit 01

Created on behalf of Scottish Enterprise and designed by AIM, District 10’s creative media district is a bold new vision for Seabraes Yards in the heart of Dundee. As an initial stepping stone to realising its development Scottish Enterprise commissioned AIM to design proposals for a office space aimed at creative media companies. The building was to be constructed from shipping containers in line with the modular construction ethos developed for District 10.

wallace house

Situated to the west of Dundee, the plot for the Wallace House offers tremendous views south that are an important part of the design. The approach to the house from the rear also runs visibly through the house to the South opening up onto the garden area and aligned central to the most significant tree to the south. The dining space and the 1st floor walkway align with large box dormer window openings onto the mature forest to the North and the garden and distant river views to the south.

AIM were comissioned by Scottish Enterprise to form proposals for a new Creative Media District at Seabraes Yards in Dundee.

The proposed masterplan is formed entirely of modular construction and prefabricated elements including a central core of offices created using recycled shipping containers. This is one example of a wide range of sustainable strategies adopted for the development of the site.
