AIM - Taypark House

AIM recently attended the 2015 Dundee Institute of Architects award dinner and were delighted to receive two awards for their work on Taypark House. AIM were awarded prizes in 2 categories - Best Regeneration and Best Interior Design.

Taypark House is an elegant Category B Listed former Scots Baronial mansion house dating from the 1860s. It stands in Dundeeā€™s west end Perth Road area within stunning mature garden grounds which slope from north to south and has outstanding views across the Botanical Gardens towards the River Tay and hills of Fife.

It has been sensitively restored by client Richie Hawkins, under Aim Design's guidance, to its former glory and now offers a private boutique guest house of unique character and historical reference. The teapot tearoom and former smoking / billiard room offer spaces to enjoy afternoon tea or a private function. Each bedroom boasts its own large en-suite bathroom fitted out in period Victorian sanitary ware. Bedrooms take full advantage of the 180 degree panoramic views across the botanical gardens towards the River Tay and Fife hills beyond. Many spaces present quotes referenced from Dundee's Jute industry and the origins of Taypark. Climb the stair to the reading turret or relax in a roll top looking over the Tay. The boutique hotel and eatery has become the go to destination for tourists and locals looking for a tasty treat where scenic views of the river Tay can be appreciated while admiring the ornate grandeur of this impressive listed building.
