Aim has been working with internationally acclaimed, Scottish Hairdressers of the Year, McIntyres over several years. The most recent project Phase II Union Street in Dundee has been added to the earlier completed Phase I while the entire salon remained in operation.

The Union Street project, a grade A listed corner site, brought a previously run down building back into use. Works involved extensive remodelling of the entire corner site. Originally consisting of 4 separate units the internal core was carefully removed and a new steel frame core installed to provide accommodation on 3 levels, basement, 1st and 2nd.

The high quality of service had to be maintained with phased completions and out of hour work required for interface works between the two phases.

Aim developed a series of open plan spaces that could be adapted to daily client programmes. Several spaces incorporate concealed sliding screens. Each space & screen was sound insulated to provide complete privacy. The flexible layout generates enhanced program performance and provides additional marketing opportunities to expand their client base. The private consultancy spaces provide an alternative experience for customers of particular religious faiths or sensitive health conditions who prefer a discreet service.

The McIntyre projects have received many accolades including a Scottish Regeneration Award, Civic Trust Award, Dundee City Council Award, Scottish Design Award & National Salon Design Award and most recently a Dundee Institute of Architects Award.
