The prototype for aim’s low energy, sustainable developments, the analysis and design for the three houses at Trottick took over 12 months to complete. Detailed research was carried out in conjunction with the client and specialist consultants to move towards the Zero Carbon Home at an affordable price while maintaining user liveability and contemporary design.

The homes have super-insulated airtight envelopes and whole house ventilation with heat recovery. Back up heating and hot water is supplied from evacuated tube solar panels with electric boost. Lighting is 240V LED throughout with solar shading to the large South facing windows. Low biodiversity impact and low maintenance materials have been utilised wherever possible.
